The Edmont Foundation was not born out of long-term planning or ambition—it was born from heartbreak. The sudden loss of JD (Kyler) Edmont de la Doucette shook the lives of all who loved him. And yet, from the ashes of that tragedy, something deeply life-giving began to take root.

This is the story of how grief transformed into service, and how love found new ways to live on.

The Day Everything Changed

On April 25, 2024, JD was taken from this world in a tragic accident while working beneath his vehicle. He was only 25. Brilliant, sensitive, creative, and quietly brave—his absence left an ache that words could not soothe. But even in those first painful days, a quiet voice whispered: “Let this become something more.”

What began as mourning quickly became movement.

Why We Chose the Land

The land in the Cévennes was already part of the family—remote, raw, and filled with potential. It had long been a place of peace for JD. Turning it into a sanctuary was not a decision made by logic, but by love. It simply felt right. And in the process, it gave new life to both those grieving and those who had never known JD but found healing through his legacy.

Carrying JD’s Spirit Forward

JD often felt like he didn’t belong in traditional systems. But in this Foundation, he belongs entirely. His empathy, his love of the earth, his talent for deep listening—these values guide every program we create and every soul we welcome.

Whether it’s through mentoring young people who don’t fit into conventional paths, or offering space to those navigating loss, the Foundation exists to embody the kind of care JD gave so freely.

Grief as a Seed of Service

We don’t “move on” from grief—we grow from it. And in that growth, something beautiful can bloom. For us, the Edmont Foundation is that bloom: a living, breathing response to loss, filled with community, creativity, and compassion.

We serve not in spite of our grief, but because of it.
